Key moments in Stockwell's life:
1890 - built, and opened by royalty (PoW). Check out the bell roof housing the lift mechanism, the beautiful windows and the rather grand house next door. There were gardens and cornices and a lovely curved facade.
1912 - the front of the station is extended to the road and the rather grand house has become a rather grand bank, with pillars extending out to the street to add some rather grand gravitas
1924 - a line extension (a recurring curse for the prettiness of the station you'll later see), has meant a new art-deco redesign - the windows are gone, as has the bell roof due to the implementation of escalators
1971 - hello Victoria line and a whole new look
2001 - flats added above the ticket hall
